Argentine prosecutor Alberto Nisman’s ex-wife has claimed that independent forensic tests show he was murdered.

The investigator had accused the president of plotting to cover up Iran’s alleged role in a 1994 bombing.

Nisman was found dead, a bullet in his head and pistol by his side, at home in Buenos Aires in January.

Nisman’s former wife, Sandra Arroyo Salgado, a judge and a plaintiff in the inquiry into his death, briefed reporters on the results of the tests conducted by her team.

“Nisman didn’t have an accident, Nisman didn’t commit suicide. He was killed and his death is an assassination of unknown proportions that deserves answers on the part of the Argentine Republic’s institutions.”

Arroyo Salgado said that while official autopsy results showed signs of rigormortis in Nisman’s right hand consistent with suicide by a gunshot wound, the independent tests showed no such signs.
