Hong Kong hub: opening up Asian markets to European SMEs

Hong Kong has long attracted European entrepreneurs as a vital hub and springboard to Asian markets. It is very much a non-stop, business-friendly and dynamic city. Now it holds even more promise in the form of new opportunities in ASEAN regional group of nations.

Stefano Tordiglione is among those to have been lured by its charms and business potential. The Italian designer arrived in Hong Kong in 2007 with no intention to stay but quickly appreciated the opportunities the city offered. He rapidly became one of its most successful interior designers.

His company now employs 5 people and uses freelances back in Italy. He works on projects in bot Europe and elsewhere in Asia.

Hong Kong has been a turning point, he says: “I like to say that Hong Kong is like a washing machine… once you’re in, you know, you play the game and you have to turn at a fast pace. But, at the same time, it gives you the possibility of being at ease. So infrastructure is also very good.”
