A demonstration was held onThursday to protest a congressional decision to allow 3,677 U.S. military personnel to enter the country in 2015, along with 90 airplanes and helicopters. Protesters argue that the fight against drug trafficking and terrorism are just excuses to maintain United States control over the national territory and resources and that the presence of troops would be a violation of Peru's independence.
