The Kissing Room might not be back yet, but that doesn't mean that New Yorkers can't still find new and romantic ways to transfer bacteria and saliva in Grand Central. Comedian Farah Brooks went to Grand Central last week and tried to place her lips upon strangers' lips in the conscious motion of upright CPR some call 'kissing.' If a guy did this, it'd probably have been awkward and creepy; but Brooks makes it sweet and weird and a little desperate as person after person rejects her incredibly unwanted advances.
The video, soundtracked by Sixpence None the Richer's CLASSIC ’single "Kiss Me," went viral or something on April Fool's Day, aided by the fact that pressing one's human face lips to another set of human face lips is a foolish prospect any day of the week. Brooks told the News that a couple clips didn't make the video, including one of someone telling her to fuck off, and one of someone petting her like a dog.
"I wanted to do something positive that involved love," the East Village resident told the News. "I was very nervous about it and imagined best case: people would laugh; worst case: I would get punched in the face." And in the end, she did make out with the one guy at the end of the video, which is a reminder that some people are so desperate for their epinephrine fix they're willing to risk acquiring cooties.
