Security forces stormed the Bardo Museum in Tunis, Tunisia after terrorists took dozens of tourists hostage Wednesday afternoon.
The Bardo Museum in Tunisia's capital city is located less than 500 feet from the parliament building.
The attack involved "two or more terrorists armed with Kalashnikovs," according to interior ministry spokesman Mohamed Ali Aroui.
As many as 200 people were inside the museum at the time of the attack—dozens of them were taken hostage. Many people ran from the museum to safety as security forces held their guard. The security teams then raided the museum and exchanged fire with the terrorists.
The AP reports the gunmen killed 20 victims, including Polish, Spanish, German and Italian tourists as well as two Tunisians. One security officer was killed during the raid along with two gunmen. Two or three other gunmen may still be at large.
Prime Minister Habib Essid said at a press conference that 22 tourists and two Tunisians were being treated for injuries.
