Ahmed Al-Jumaili, aged 36, had never seen snow before he’d moved to Texas. He caught sight of his first snowfall within just three weeks of moving to Dallas from Iraq.

So, like eager children, Ahmed and his brother ran outside of their apartment to experience the first snow they’d ever seen in their life while his wife took pictures.

Suddenly, amidst the fall of snow flurries, a hail of bullets peppered the area around the two men. Ahmed yelled that he’d been hit before he and his brother dashed back inside. The storm of bullets also left 8 bullets lodged in a nearby parked truck.

Ahmed later succumbed to his injuries at an area hospital.

Police investigating the crime have not yet dismissed the possibility of it having been a hate crime.

Critics have condemned local media for not adequately covering the story, with some claiming the media’s disinterest in the story is partly due to the fact that the victim, Ahmed, was Muslim.
