The film director of Midnight Rider pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter this week in the case of Sarah Jones, who died during filming.
Randall Miller’s crew was filming on a train bridge in Georgia on Feb. 20, 2014, when an oncoming train struck Jones, 27, killing her instantly.
A recently released video shows the crew desperately trying to get off the tracks as a CSX freight train approaches at 60 mph. In the video, the film crew can be seen trying to remove a prop bed from the train tracks before abandoning the bed and their equipment.
CSX Transportation had not granted Miller permission to film on the tracks.
“It didn’t feel right. I didn’t feel safe there,” hair stylist Joyce Gilliard told the Hollywood Reporter in the wake of the accident. The passing train snapped Gilliard’s left arm when it passed, but she managed to hang on to the gangplank.
According to reports, a fuel tank struck Sarah Jones and pulled her under the train.
Film director Randall Miller will serve two years in prison.
