In one of the biggest scandals in the 124-year history of the prestigious Crufts dog show, a 3-year-old Irish setter has died after being poisoned.
Noodle, a purebred Irish Setter, had been going through his paces at the show and was heavily favored to win one of the top spots. His owner, Dee Milligan Bott, was pleased as punch.
However someone else apparently wasn't too keen on Noodle's performance, and poisoned meat was fed to a dog fitting Noodle's description.
Instead of Noodle, another Irish Setter co-owned by Milligan-Bott named Jagger got the lethal meal in an apparent canine mismatch. Jagger died 24 hours later at his home in Belgium. The dog-killer's identity and motives are both unkown.
Police are reviewing camera footage for leads, with a severe lack of evidence, it's doubtful that the perpetrator will ever be caught.
