Last week a woman driving along the highway in Taipei had a head on collision with a crested goshawk. After impacting with the car the bird was sucked down underneath the bumper and up into the engine block.
The driver, Ms. Wang, drove to the nearest police precinct and asked if an officer might help her take a look at the bird.
After popping the hood, the officer and passengers were all surprised to see that the goshawk was still alive and trapped between the front bumper and water pump. The officer was able to carefully extract the bird and contacted Taiwan’s Wildlife Conservation Center to come collect it.
The center will keep the goshawk until it is fully healed from its adventure and then release it back into the wild.
This is one lucky chick.
