A couple in Osaka city’s Ibaraki Prefecture were arrested for starving their three-year-old daughter to death.

In the fall of last year, some neighbors reported seeing the daughter taped and bound on the balcony.

A few months later, just a day shy of New Year’s eve, neighbors saw the little girl bare-foot and crying in the cold. But no one reported it to police.

Sometime in February this year the couple began starving the child.

There were a few more incidents where the daughter was locked on the outdoor balcony and neighbors could hear her screaming for her mother to let her in.
In June police received a call from the father saying that his daughter had collapsed on the bathroom and was unresponsive.

During the autopsy authorities found onion peels, aluminum foil and candle wax in the three-year-old’s stomach. They theorize that she must’ve been so hungry she ate what she could find. The parents have arrested for child abuse and murder, but are denying the accusations.
