Four bighorn sheep escaped from the Los Angeles Zoo on Saturday.

According to zoo officials, one of the sheep was able to clear the 8-foot high security fence lined with barbed wire, traverse the Santa Monica mountains and make it all the way to the Los Feliz residential neighborhood.

Unfortunately that’s where the sheeps adventure ended after it was struck by a car in a hit-and-run crash. The sheep died of its injuries.
