A Texas man was rudely awoken late Saturday evening when a burglar broke into his home.
Around 3 a.m. in Houston’s Southside area a homeowner heard the sound of his kitchen window shatter and that’s when he quickly decided to take action and defend his property.
According to Houston Police, the homeowner saw the intruder from his kitchen stealing property in his living room.
The resident had his concealed handgun on him and started firing multiple shots at the thief.
The suspect took off running towards the kitchen window that he broke into, but didn’t make it.
The homeowner killed the burglar in his kitchen and called police.
The homeowner’s sister Keisha McClendon told officials, “You have to protect yourself, it’s a lot of it going around.”
The homeowner was protecting his little sister and his disabled father, whose diabetes left him wheelchair-ridden.
Houston police have yet to release the suspect’s name and no charges have been filed.
