Police are investigating allegations of a paramedic crew that reportedly left a body next to a trash can in the ambulance garage so they could leave work on time. Paramedics working for the East of England Ambulance Service responded to an emergency call near the Littleport Fire Station in Cambridgeshire, England. They arrived to find James Harrison, 32, dead on the street. According to a whistleblower’s account, the crew then returned to the ambulance station instead of driving the 24 miles to the mortuary at Addenbrook’s Hospital in Cambridge. They dumped the body near a trash can in the garage and went home, leaving the corpse for the next working crew to deal with properly. Dr. Anthony Marsh, the ambulance service’s chief executive, issued an apology but did not confirm the details of the incident.Marsh also came under fire in August for claiming $29,000 in cab fares.
