A Southern Mississippi college student is being held on bond of $17,300 after a fraternity prank led to the deaths of two Chilean flamingos at the Hattiesburg Zoo on Wednesday. Devin Nottis, 19, of Pascagoula is charged with grand larceny, two counts of animal cruelty and trespassing. During a fraternity scavenger hunt, Nottis and three other pledges took a flamingo instead of taking a picture of the bird. Surveillance video caught the college students taking the female bird was taken around one a.m. on Tuesday. The University of Southern Mississippi student was arrested Wednesday night.The female swan was returned to the zoo and later died. Her husband died at after the traumatic incident.
