"Lives" offers a window on the Latin American continent, as seen through the eyes of people, either well known or ordinary individuals, who give the viewer an insight into the essence of the region. Today's edition of "Lives", is the second part of a program that takes a look at the life and work of the famous Mexican writer, novelist, and political thinker and activist Jose Revueltas (1914-1976). Throughout his life and prolific literary career, Revueltas represented a fusion of culture and radical left-wing ideology and political activism. Recipient of the 1943 National Literature Award and author of numerous novels, plays, and movie scripts, Revueltas was also a life-long communist militant in different organizations and was jailed four times for his political activism, including and most famously for two and a half years following the bloody suppression of the 1968 student movement. teleSUR
