Female Soldiers: Forgotten Heroes is an organization based in Bridgeport, CT which focuses on providing housing and life opportunities to homeless veterans. The PFC Nicholas A. Madaras home, named after a young soldier with an inspiring small town story, specifically houses female veterans and their families. With an amazing mission statement to "provide the housing and services necessary to help homeless individuals return to a productive and meaningful life,"
Female Soldiers: Forgotten Heroes provides job counseling, life coaching, and a safe and stable community-based environment for women to happily transition back to civilian life after serving in the military. We sat down with two women involved with the program as well as Joy Kiss, CEO of FS:FH to learn more about the home and the immeasurable impact it has on the self-esteem, confidence, and overall well-being of female veterans.
