Police in La Vista, Nebraska are still investigating the disturbing case of an adorable 11-month-old boy, who was discovered in a dumpster Wednesday evening.
Investigators identified the mother of the boy as 45-year-old Jesus Ismenia Marinero. As of Thursday, police were still trying to locate her.
Nebraska State Police issued an Amber Alert for the toddler’s 5-year-old brother on Thursday.
Police are also searching for a silver 2000 Jeep Cherokee Laredo, Nebraska plates SRH 941, in connection to the case.
The 11-month-old who was discovered in the dumpster is healthy, according to police.
A man who wished to remain anonymous was cleaning out his car near an apartment complex in La Vista on Wednesday evening, when he heard a whimpering coming from the dumpster, KETV reported.
“I went and looked on the inside the dumpster and I seen a little hand with an empty water bottle moving,” the man told KETV.
The abandoned toddler somehow suffered only minor bruises to his back even though he was wearing nothing but a soiled diaper at the time of the discovery, according to police.
Worried about the rain and desperate to preserve the evidence, police moved the dumpster to a more secure location to continue their investigation.
In 2008, Nebraska became the 50th state to induct a law aimed at avoiding abandonments. The Safe Haven Law states anyone can leave a baby up to 30 days old with the state and remain anonymous.
