A Georgia teacher died Saturday evening after a car accident involving two students from the high school where she worked.

Students at Lakeside High School in Atlanta mourned the death of 33-year-old Leah O'Brien, who was pronounced dead at the hospital.

According to WSBTV, the unidentified students were on their way to prom around 6:00 Saturday evening. They were driving westbound on Scott Boulevard when a Hyundai Sonata tried to turn left off of Ridley Circle.

The driver of that car was Leah O'Brien, a family and consumer science teacher at their school. Her 8-year-old daughter was with her.

The students t-boned Leah's car. Photographs of the aftermath showed a badly damaged car with shattered windows.

O'Brien was later pronounced dead at the hospital. Her daughter remained in critical condition as of Monday, according to USA Today.

One witness told WSBTV the shocked students kept saying, "why did she have to pull out in front of us?"

Paramedics took the students to the hospital for observation, but they were reportedly uninjured.

The school provided grief counselors for the student body on Monday. A sign outside the school read: "Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Ms. Leah O'Brien. The entire Viking nation is mourning the loss of one of our best."

O'Brien had been working at the school for five years.
