As a re-invigorated Iraqi army begins a major offensive to flush Islamic State from the city of Tikrit, the terror group released another execution video, with the victims said to be Iraqi army “collaborators”.

The video features the four condemned “confessing” to have worked with the Iraqi army, confessions that cannot, of course, be independently verified.

The men are then led to a place of execution where Islamic State killers read out a long list of their supposed crimes and pronounced a sentence of death before shooting each blindfolded victim once in the back of the head. Each man appears to have died instantly.

ISIS is thought to have between 30,000 and 200,000 fighters spread across the vast area they control. A group of some 30,000 Iraqi troops, Sunni tribal fighters and Shi’ite militia have banded together in their attack on Tikrit. Iran has also lent its support by sending a top general to assist the Iraqis in planning their assault.
