Nigerian singer Adokiye has offered her virginity in exchange for the 200 schoolgirls kidnapped by Islamist militant group Boko Haram.

"It is just unfair. They are too young. I wish I could offer myself in exchange," Adokiye told Nigerian publication Vanguard's Showtime.

But instead of being praised, Adokiye's offer has been criticized in Africa as a cheap publicity stunt.

"So this Adokiye girl wants us to believe she's a virgin? Uh cmon!" tweeted @still-jimmy.

"Adokiye Kyrian is really hungry for attention and in the process insulting the world's call to Boko Haram to #BringBackOurGirls," wrote @LodoGideon.

It's been nearly three months since Boko Haram kidnapped more than 300 girls in northern Nigeria.
