The Justice Department filed criminal charges against five hackers from the Chinese military's PLA Unit 61398 on Monday for allegedly hacking trade secrets from US companies in the nuclear power, metals and solar industries.
China immediately denied the charges, saying in a Foreign Ministry statement that the US grand jury indictment was boulogne and would damage trust between the two nations.
"When a foreign nation uses military or intelligence resources and tools against an American executive or corporation to obtain trade secrets or sensitive business information for the benefit of its state-owned companies, we must say, 'Enough is enough,'" US Attorney General Eric Holder said at a news conference on Monday.
Companies targeted by the infamous Shanghai-based hackers include Westinghouse Electric, SolarWorld AG, US Steel, Allegheny Technologies and Alcoa.
China should just indict members of the NSA for spying in retaliation, but of course China has denied the allegations, and we can believe them because copying is the one thing that Chinese never do.
