At least seven people died after a series of explosions caused by a fire at a military munitions depot in the Russian village of Bolshaya Tura, around 6,200 km southeast of Moscow.
At least four more people are missing and 17 are injured, the local Zabaikalsky Krai government was quoted by Reuters as saying.
The explosions were caused by a wildfire that was raging nearby the ammunition depot.
More than 1,000 residents were evacuated from the area as a result of the explosions.
Six trains traveling on the Transsiberian railway, up to a third of which transport coal, between Chita and Karymskaya, were temporarily stopped for "security reasons."
Trains traveling to and from Moscow have also been canceled due to the accident, RT reported.
By 17:30 GMT, the fire appeared to have been contained, but four fire brigade units are still working in the area as there might still be a threat of more explosions.
The incident is the latest in a string of fires and explosions at munitions storage and disposal sites that have plagued Russia over the past two years, Ria Novosti reported.
Critics of the military attribute the problems to poor oversight and lax safety standards.
