CCTV footage taken last month captures a harrowing burglary in the Israeli coastal city of Ashkelon, in which a masked man attempted to rob a jewellery store at knifepoint, according to details attached to the video which was posted to the video-sharing site LiveLeak.com.

Wielding a large blade and swinging it around frantically, the man is seen threatening both customers and what appear to be the shop's two owners before escaping with what he came for.

Everything seemed to be going according to plan for the suspect, that is until the owners decided to take matters into their own hands.

Shortly after being chased away from the shop, the suspect was caught by local police.
