Fifteen people were injured on Monday when an explosion took place at a ball bearings plant in Peterborough, New Hampshire on Monday (February 10).
According to New Hampshire Ball Bearings, at least ten people were transported to a southern New Hampshire hospital after the "major explosion". Two others sent on to other facilities, said Laura Gingras, a hospital spokeswoman.
A company spokesperson, Kathy Gerrity said, "The building has been evacuated and we have followed our emergency procedures."
Gerrity added that about 700 people work at the site over three shifts, although there are typically around 450 people working at the plant at the time of the explosion, which took place at around 3:30 p.m. local time. However, she could not confirm exactly how many people were in the building when the explosion occurred.
New Hampshire's WMUR television showed emergency vehicles parked in front of the facility. Footage showed the first-floor windows of the building had been blown out by the blast.
The state emergency operations center is monitoring the situation, Gov. Maggie Hassan said.
Peterborough is located about 75 miles (120 km) northwest of Boston.
