Special Memories Zoo in Greenville, Wisconsin is in a race against time after a baby red kangaroo and four baby Nigerian dwarf goats were found missing from an off-site facility last Wednesday.
The possibility of the baby animals escaping was quickly dismissed when zoo owner Dona Wheeler said that the baby kangaroo was forcefully ripped off from its mother's pouch, injuring her.
As of now, the police do not have any leads, and zoo staff are becoming more frantic. The baby kangaroo is just five months old and the baby goats still need their mother's milk. Without proper care, the animals could die within a week.
Wheeler said there were no signs of forced entry. Special Memories Zoo plans to bolster security by adding more surveillance cameras and using more sophisticated locks.
