Investigative journalist Seymour Hersh says the Obama administration lied about how Osama bin Laden was killed. In a new article in the London Review of Books, Hersh claims that pretty much everything we've been told about the assassination of Osama bin Laden is false.

Hersh writes that Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence Agency, or ISI, knew where bin Laden was from 2006 and cooperated with the U.S. in his assassination. Tracking couriers was not how bin Laden was found, Hersh reports. Instead, the U.S. paid $25 million to an unnamed Pakistani intelligence officer who directed them to the hideout. In addition, according to sources quoted by the veteran reporter, bin Laden was essentially an invalid due to illness and there was no heroic gunfight at the compound.

Also among the revelations are the assertions that bin Laden was not buried at sea and that parts of his bullet-ridden body may have been tossed out of a helicopter as it returned to Afghanistan. Hersh's article also claims the Obama administration originally planned to concoct a story claiming bin Laden had been killed in a drone strike in the mountains of Afghanistan.
