Karachi blast: 2 killed, 14 injured

Two people were killed and 14 were wounded in a suicide bombing in Karachi, Pakistan on Friday (December 20).

According to the Express Tribune, a police officer, identified as inspector Shafiq Tanoli, his driver and two guards were targeted by a suicide bomber.

The attack was carried out outside the inspector's house in Purani Sabzi Mandi area when a suicide bomber rammed his motorcycle into the police car, causing an explosion. It was reported that about three kilogrammes of explosives were planted on a motorcycle.

No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack. An investigation into the attack has been launched by the authorities.

Karachi is Pakistan's financial centre and home to 18 million people. According to the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, about 1,726 people were killed in the city in the first six months of this year alone.
