David Carrender, 49, is accused of shooting and killing his 19-year-old son Wyatt Carrender in an argument that started over when to stop watching football on Sunday.

David and Wyatt were out at Buffalo Wild Wings in Indianapolis with family and friends watching football on TV. While at the restaurant David Carrender was drinking. According to Wyatt's girlfriend, David downed about 10 Blue Moons and also had several shots of whiskey.

After the game was over, the father wanted to go to another bar to watch more football, while the son wanted to go look at cars on sale and then go home. The two then started arguing about going home.

The two continued to fight with each other on the drive home. After reaching their home in Martinsville, Indiana the fight escalated. The pair fought in the stairwell where Wyatt head-butted his father, knocking him back down the stairs.

David and Wyatt Carrender then went back to their rooms. The father retrieved a .40 caliber gun from his bedroom and then entered his son's room, where Wyatt was sitting on the end of the bed with his pregnant girlfriend, according to a police report.

Wyatt Carrender stood up and started moving toward his father, and David Carrender then went on to shoot his son five or six times in the chest, arm and pelvis, according to the police report.

The father's girlfriend and son's girlfriend were also present at the time of the shooting, according to Morgan County Sheriff Robert Downey.
