Three US soldiers and their interpreter were killed in a suicide attack against an Afghan and NATO military convoy in eastern Afghanistan early on Tuesday, according to a report by Al Jazeera.

A suicide bomber dressed as a farmer rode a donkey into a group of US and Afghan forces on a joint patrol, in Wardak province, a Taliban stronghold southwest of Kabul.

He set off the explosion as he approached the troops.

Four Afghan soldiers and a number of civilians were wounded in the attack, which the Taliban claimed responsibility for.
