Socks the "moonwalking" pony has gotten into a paternity battle. His owner tried to breed him with three fillies in particular, but he didn't like any of them. He did, however, take a fancy to Kimberley, a mare on the other side of a loch, and he swam across the water to be with her. Scamp, a black foal, was born to her in the spring and now hair samples from the three are being tested to determine exactly who is daddy is. If it is Socks, Scamp will be his first colt.
