David Cameron has hailed his election victory as a "mandate" to renegotiate Britain's relationship with Europe. The newly re-elected British PM has vowed to hold an in/out referendum on EU membership before the end of 2017. Syed Kamall, the leader of the European Conservatives and Reformists in the European Parliament, explains how Britain will go about convincing its European partners.

Renegotiating Britain's relationship with the EU "is not just Britain coming to Brussels with a shopping list", he says. "This is about reform for the EU as a whole".
Syed Kamall also denies that the British press is overly Eurosceptic. "We have a balanced press in the UK", he says, insisting that several publications are "rabidly pro-European". He adds that he has "great faith in the British people" to vote on the issues at hand in the referendum, and not on anything else.
