PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti has said that her government will ensure that separatist Syed Ali Shah Geelani gets his passport. However, she added that the final call would be taken by the Ministry of Home Affairs. Speaking to a daily, Mufti added that the issue was a humanitarian one and many separatist leaders including Muhammad Yasin Malik, Shabir Shah and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq had Indian passports and had frequently visited many foreign countries. BJP, who has formed a coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir with PDP, has insisted that Geelani should declare his allegiance to the country in order to get his passport.
