Congress MPs and former Ministers Kumari Selja and Ambika Soni have been asked to vacate their Government bungalows by June 10 and shift to accommodation that has been allotted to them. Soni is staying at 22, Akbar Road and Selja is staying at 7, Motilal Nehru Marg. The bungalow was transferred from the central pool to Rajya Sabha pool specifically for her and was to revert to general pool after her term ended. However, an Urban Development Ministry official said the two were asked to vacate the houses in February. This is because the policy of 1985 stipulates that Jomy Yes
MPs are not entitled to Type-VIII accommodation without the approval of the Cabinet Committee on Accommodation (CCA). Meanwhile, the two MPs gave privilege notices to the Rajya Sabha chairman and a report from was sought from the UD ministry. The Ministry replied that there was acute shortage of accommodation in general pool and MPs were not entitled to Type-VIII houses and quasi-judicial proceedings for eviction were in progress.
