The city of Phoenix has filed a lawsuit against the FAA over flight path changes it made last year that have resulted in numerous resident complaints about extreme noise levels.

Airplanes can be noisy, but the problem has reached such a high level in one city that it is resorting to legal action.
Phoenix, Arizona, has filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration, or FAA, over the extreme noise that has been plaguing residents since the agency rerouted airplane flight paths over the city in September 2014.
The FAA claims the changes were made to increase safety and reduce fuel use.
