Born in Buenos Aires in the typical Villa Crespo neighbourhood and living in Madrid since 2002, Mariel Martinez is one of the most famous tango singers in Europe. She recorded five albums ("De mi barrio", "Perfume de tango", "Un Placer", "Esos otros Tangos" and "Buenos Aires...Cuando lejos me vi") all of them produced by legendary Litto Nebbia, which have been edited in Argentina, France and Spain by the prestigious label Melopea.
She also participated in tango related compilations, books and DVDs as a guest artist. For the last three years she has been singing on stages all over Europe, South America and Africa, presenting her albums in major venues of Spain, France, Italy, Russia, Portugal, Germany, Argentina and Morocco, among others. Her continuingly growing career has made –and still makes- the best of impressions among critics and public.
She was recently nominated for the 2014 Gardel Award (Highest award in the music industry Argentina) Tango for Female Artist for her album "ESOS OTROS TANGOS"
