Thousands of Guatemalans rallied Sunday to demand the immediate resignation of President Otto Perez Molina, currently embroiled in a major corruption scandal. Guatemalan congressman Orlando Blanco has accused the U.S. Embassy of intervening in the dispute in favor of Perez. He charged that a number of lawmakers received phone calls from the U.S. Embassy telling them not to pursue the case because it is getting out of hand. U.S. Ambassador Todd Robinson denied the allegations. telerSUR
