The U.S. Census Bureau is considering removing the word ‘race’ from their official survey.
Since 1790, the U.S. has been conducting periodic census taking. The country has experienced many changes since then and the Census Bureau continues to adapt.
Among the upcoming alterations they’re considering is removing the word ‘race’ from their survey.
Previous research has shown people find it, along with the terms ‘origin’ and ‘ethnicity,’ confusing.
The bureau acknowledged the ambiguity of such terminology in a 2013 report.
