June 20 is World Refugee Day, and Ecuador hosts some 250,000 displaced people, the largest number in Latin America. In this evening’s program our host Reagan Des Vignes speaks with the Regional Director of the group Asylum Access, Karina Sarmiento, about their plight, their rights guaranteed by the 1951 World Convention, the types of support offered to them by the Ecuadoran government, and the ways in which her organization uses mobile clinics, education and other means to help them in the legal process they must go through to gain asylum. teleSUR
