Four Islamist gunmen have been killed after detonating a car bomb and shooting their way into a national intelligence agency training site in Somali.

That from security officials, who say the government did not suffer any casualties during the attack in the capital Mogadishu.

But al-Shabaab claims its fighters killed more than 10 intelligence workers.

Officials showed bullet-ridden bodies to the media, which they claimed were the al-Shabaab gunmen.

The al-Qaeda aligned militant group has previously stepped up attacks during Ramadan, which started a few days ago.

Eight police officers were killed in a separate incident near Mogadishu on Saturday.
