Bollywood filmmaker Mahmood Farooqui was arrested in New Delhi, India on allegations that he raped a US academic researcher.

Bollywood filmmaker Mahmood Farooqui was arrested in New Delhi, India on allegations that he raped a US academic researcher.  The director is known for his work on the 2010 satirical film 'Peepli Live,' which is about farmers' suicides. 
It was his expertise on certain topics that first brought Farooqui and his female accuser into contact with one another. 
The individual making the allegations is a PhD student who traveled to India as part of her Hindi studies research.
