Ash spewing from the Colima Volcano in the west of Mexico has triggered fears of a huge eruption and forced hundreds of local villagers to flee their homes.

The local airport has also closed amid volcanic activity not seen since 1913.

Colima is known in Mexico as the ‘Volcano of Fire’.
