On the tenth anniversary of teleSUR, Latin American presidents Nicolas Maduro of Venezuela and Evo Morales of Bolivia congratulate the television channel of the global South for its role as a window on the world, especially regarding processes of change in the region. The brainchild of late Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, teleSUR was “the antitheses of CNN,” said Maduro, while Morales emphasized that it is “important to have an outlet that is not the voice of empire, but instead defends the peoples of Latin America, those people who are in a constant process of liberation.”
