The government has designated Friday, August 14th, as a temporary public holiday in celebration of the 70th anniversary of Korea's liberation from Japanese colonial rule.
President Park Geun-hye, who directed officials to prepare for the event at today's Cabinet meeting, said the extra holiday preceding Liberation Day on August 15th... will help boost public esteem, not to mention spending, which tumbled during the recent MERS outbreak.
The president also urged officials to do more to attract foreign tourists through a new Korean Wave, and to better promote the country's value as a venue for film and TV dramas.
With regard to labor market reforms, her priority for the latter half of the year, the president urged the older generation to give way to the country's young people so that everyone can participate in the workforce.
