President Rafael Correa has called on people to respect and defend the democratic system as opposition forces press ahead with plans for a march on Thursday. An 8-day march called by the Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities of Mexico (Conaie) has not yet reached Quito. Organizers had called for an indigenous uprising but the march has been much smaller than expected and some chapters of the confederation, as well as other indigenous and Afro-Ecuadorean organizations have opted not to participate. teleSUR
