Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said that the disruption of a Hindu wedding by the Selangor Islamic Affairs Department (Jais) was "embarrassing" and had "spoiled" the festivity.

Jais had halted a wedding at a temple in Petaling Jaya because the bride, Zarina Abdullah Majid had a muslim name. Zarina has claimed that she was born and raised as a hindu but her name was changed by her estranged father who had converted to Islam.

Khalid has come to the defence of Zarina and has offered assistance for her to settle the issue with the National Registration Department.
