The residents of 7 residential estates in Klang are livid over what they see to be inaction of the Selangor state government on flooding that often occurs during heavy downpours.
The most recent happened on March 27 and 30th causing many residents to suffer thousands of ringgit worth of damage to personal properties including vehicles.
Not to be excluded from their anger are the Klang city council and the drainage and irrigation department which falls under the Federal government.
This afternoon around 200 residents gathered at the local playing field to demonstrate their disatisfaction over the state's handling of the matter.
In a related development, Selangor Chief Minister, Khalid Ibrahim is asking the federal government for RM1 billion for flood mitigation projects. He said only the Drainage and Irrigation Department, as a federal body can undertake flood alleviation projects like water retention ponds.
