The United States has long prided itself on equality for all of its citizens. Yet its Constitution does not grant women equal rights. On Women’s Equality Day several organizations gathered outside the U.S. Capitol building to demand an Equal Rights amendment. The lack of equality in the constitution leads to situations like the gender wage gap in which women earn 33 percent less than men. In a country where less than 5 percent of top CEOs are women, rights activists feel that an amendment guaranteeing women full equality is an absolute necessity. Bianca Perez reports from Washington DC for teleSUR.
