The closure of the border with Colombia is saving Venezuela one million liters of gasoline daily, according to Carlos Alberto Martinez, army border commander. One of Caracas' main reasons for closing the border was to stop large-scale smuggling of subsidized Venezuelan food products and gasoline into Colombia, where prices are much higher. teleSUR
