The story of the Section 19 temple is not unique. It is the sad story of temples which once served a community of plantation workers who were mainly Indians of the Hindu faith.
Temples like Sri Mariamman predate the residential areas that have grown around them but the changing face of an increasingly urban landscape have put these temples under pressure of relocation.
Throughout the state of Selangor, there are hundreds of temples in similar predicament. The issue of temple relocation will continue to plague the Selangor state government especially with Umno, now in opposition in the state digging at their sides.
