DAP chairperson Karpal Singh said he was informed by the police of the demonstration and that the Umno youth demonstrators would submit a memorandum against him before it began.
The lawyer lamented that the police did not take action against the illegal gathering and said he would take action against the participants and the police for allowing it to happen.
Karpal also said that Umno youth was welcome to deliver memos to him, and they dont have to have an illegal gathering to do that.
On his threat to take the Perak Sultan to court, Karpal said his intention is backed by law and referred to a Federal Court decision on May 12 1977 which reversed an order of detention confirmed by the King. The court struck down the order as unconstitutional.
He said he appeared in that case and that the current chief justice, Zaki Tun Azmi was one of the lawyers for the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Karpal quoted another case which was taken all the up to the Privy Council.
In addition Karpal revealed that a 1993 amendment to the Federal Constitution established a Special Court which allows cases to be brought against the King and Sultans. This was a Barisan Nasional sponsored amendment and supported by the Opposition then.
